We just had spring break recently and I did many things during it, but my favorite thing was celebrating my Friends birthday. This was my favorite thing because our whole friend group got to hang out all together at once which doesn’t usually happen since we are all busy with sports and can never find a day to hangout. My second reason on why this was my favorite thing is because we all created amazing memories together, and we also went swimming and made s’mores together, and then after that we played volleyball outside. I also enjoyed watching my friend open all her gifts because she deserves all of them because she is such a good friend, and there was also some funny stuff that got gifted to her so it was funny and enjoyable to see her reaction.
Rad Reading- March
This month I read “Pod”, this book is a fiction book that is a 211 paged book written by Stephen Wallenfels. This takes place in Los Angeles, California where a girl named Meg gets caught up in a natural disaster when alien-like pods take over the city, but conflict rises as her Mom leaves her all alone in a parking structure. This forces Meg to use the resources she has to try to survive with two men on the lookout to kill her.
I really enjoyed this book because it was hard to figure out what would happen next, and the author created so many thrilling scenes that made me want to read the book even more.
My favorite character in the book “Pod” was Cassie. Cassie the cat is my favorite character in the book because she was always there to cheer up Meg during tough times. A character trait that I would give to Cassie is kindness. Cassie shows this character trait on (p.91) where it states, “Cassie doesn’t care about the fangs or the yellow eyes glowing over the trunk. All she cares about is licking the tears streaming down my face.” This shows that Cassie will always be there to help others/lighten up the mood to get through tough times even when she is also having a tough time.
My favorite quote from the book is on (pg.11) where it states, “In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment we often forget how much unites all the members of humanity. Perhaps we need some outside, universal threat to make us recognize this common bond.” This is meaningful because it has a lot of thought put into it since it is seen from another persons perspective on humanity.
Inviting Three People to Dinner
My mom, dad, and my sister are the three people that I would love to invite for dinner. The reason why I chose these three people is because it wouldn’t be that difficult for us to choose a place to eat since we all like the same type of food. Secondly, the three of us never get to hangout much anymore because my sister is in college, so therefore it would be nice to see each other all together. Lastly, I chose these three people because we would have a lot to talk about because of all the memories have made from going on vacations together and just hanging out as a family, this would be a good thing because the conversation wouldn’t get awkward or silent at any point.
Dream Job
If I could have any job in the entire world, it would be a veterinarian. One reason why I would want to be a veterinarian is because they get paid well. The reason why this matters is because I want to be able to afford a nice house and provide for myself. The second reason why I would want to be a veterinarian is because I would get to help animals every day. This makes me want to be a veterinarian because it would be a nice feeling to know that I helped a living thing in need, and it will help me feel successful because I made a difference. My last reason on why I would want to be a veterinarian is because I like to work as a team with other people. This makes me want to be a veterinarian because it is nice to have the feeling of support from others, especially if its a living things life at risk.
Invisible for Twenty-Four Hours
The possibilities are endless when you are invisible for twenty-four hours! For example the first thing that I would do is confuse my friends by moving their stuff around in their house. The reason that I would do this is because I think it would be funny and entertaining to see their reactions. The second thing that I would do if i’m invisible is go see a movie in the theatre’s for free and maybe bring some food. The reason why I would do this is because I think it’s enjoyable to see movies in the theaters, and I know that sometimes it can be expensive to get in. My third thing that I would do if I was invisible is go snorkeling. I would do this because it would be a lot easier to get cool photos of fish without them swimming away, also I would be a lot more confident to go deeper into the ocean because sharks and other harmful animals couldn’t see me.
Rad Reading – February
This month I read a book called Hoops, this book is a nonfiction story that is 215 pages long written by Matt Tavares. This story takes place in Wilkins Indiana, where a group of teenage girls make history of becoming the first girls basketball team in their high school. They face many challenges throughout the story such as discrimination based on gender, relationships, and sportsmanship. But in the end it is all worth it when their team makes an amazing core memory together.
I really enjoyed this book because it was cool to see sports from a different perspective of another athlete, and reading this book made me realize that every single professional athlete started from a lower level in sports.
My favorite character in the book Hoops is Stacy. Stacy was my favorite character in the book because she supported her friends no matter what, even if it was hard for her to do so. Stacy also accepts that things can change and not everything always goes accordingly to plan. A character trait that I would give to Stacy is understanding. Stacy shows this character trait on page (181) where it states, “No. I get it now. Being cheer captain was my dream. It was never your dream” This shows that Stacy put her feelings aside and decided to accept her friend for what she wanted, and didn’t only focus on herself.
My favorite quote from the book is, “Sport heroes aren’t always famous superstars making millions of dollars. Sometimes they’re regular kids who play hard and stand up for what is right.” This quote is meaningful to me because it shows me as an athlete that no matter my level in sports, I should always show dedication and good sportsmanship.
Abandoned Island
It’s another day in paradise on my abandoned island. If only that cruise ship I had went on didn’t sink I would still be partying and enjoying the company of my friends. My daily routine on this island is quite a challenge. For example when I wake up the first thing I do is go look for food with my handmade spear and hope I catch some fish, but if I don’t then I have to rely on the tropical foods around me such as mango, coconut, bananas, and more! Although I’m stuck on this island the food is quite delicious and refreshing. After that I go and freshen up by washing myself in the cold ocean surrounded by rocks and palm trees. Once I am done with that I begin to relax and enjoy the day by looking for beautiful seashells and observing the beautiful animals that rely on this island such as parrots, seagulls, turtles, and other beautiful creatures. Then towards the end of the day I sit down on the tan colored sand and observe the view of the orange and yellow colored sunset with the sound of the dark blue waves crashing onto the shore.
Rad Reading -January
This month I read a book called Love & Gelato, this book is a realistic fiction book written by Jenna Evans Welch. This story takes place in Italy, when a girl named Lina has to go to Italy to fulfill her mother’s dying wish of starting a new life with her father. Lina goes through many conflicts throughout her process of adjusting to her new home thinking things couldn’t get any worse, but she soon finds out it just can.
I really enjoyed this book because it was fascinating to see how Linas character change’s throughout the story. Another thing is that the book hooks you in will all the drastic plot twists and main parts to the book.
My favorite character in the book Love & Gelato is Howard. Howard was my favorite character in the book because he was did what was right even when nobody was looking, and he made sacrifices for others throughout the story. A character trait I would give to Howard is compassion. Howard shows this character trait on (p.111) when Lina asks, “Whats my curfew?” Howard responds to Lina by saying, “Lets say one.” Lina then thought to herself, “One? He must really want me to make friends.” This shows that Howard wants Lina to make many friends so she is happy in Italy, this is because Howard cares for Lina deeply and just wants the best for her.
My favorite quote from the book is, “What I really want is someone who will wake me up early so I don’t miss a sunrise.” This quote is meaningful to me because this shows that it is good to have someone in your life that will do those small things for you, even though it is so much more than that.
Trip to Turks and Caicos
My first time ever on a cruise, our first stop was to Turks and Caicos. I had never even known this place had existed until that day we docked. Turks and Caicos is a very beautiful island filled with beautiful flowers and cute animals such as flamingos, sharks, dolphins and more, Although I didn’t see any of those animals they still had other animals there such as dogs and beautiful birds with exotic colors such as blue, red, green, and sometimes even pink. The weather there at Turks and Caicos was amazing it was sunny with a tiny gust of wind every once and awhile. The water there was also clear and bright blue, you could see your hand through the water perfectly.
Dumbledore Quote
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light.” –Albus Dumbledore. To me this quote means that even when times get tough you still have to remember to keep the good in your life such as friends, family, and your hobby’s. This quote relates to me because even when I am not having the best days I always remember that I have great friends and family to help me through it. I also have great things to look forward to which helps me through those tough days. This is a great thing to have because if you don’t have any uplifting people in your life tough times are going to be a challenge for you. This is why I am grateful I don’t have to worry about being in that tough situation of not knowing who to turn to during those challenging days.
